Watercolor
In 1976 Alicia won “Best of Show” while exhibiting this watercolor painting at the Camden, Maine Art Show. In this stunning painting she features the main road leading past the “Monhegan Bulletin Board”. This rugged little storage shed has posted the advertisements, vacancies, job wanted, and lonely heart postings for many years. Today, this remains the Island’s main communication device. Alicia was masterful at painting the enveloping fog through the trees and brush. She painted a tempted sky that showed hope of the sun streaking through the fog. The old wooden dory is captured at rest among the weeds and exposed to the elements. The moss covered roof is painted brilliantly while reflecting the shadow of the nearby tree.
