Watercolor
In 1962 Alicia ordered her oldest son to pose for this classic watercolor portrait of a young boy who was not happy sitting there and not moving. The rooster tail hair was a source of humorous teasing and she made sure it was illustrated prominently. Her ability to capture a facial likeness was extraordinary. During her career as a professional artist she would sketch hundreds of charcoal and pastel portraits of people lining up for the opportunity. Her watercolor and oil portraits quickly became one of her most noted accomplished disciplines. In 1973 Alicia was awarded a major commission by the Maine State Legislature for the oil portrait of retired Maine Supreme Court Justice Albert Beliveau of Rumford, Maine.
